History:
The
varied ribbing effects in the metal are typical of the transitional period
between metal work of the Mycenaean period around 1100 BC and the
beginnings of the archaic period, when Greek art began to be influenced by
the oriental traditions of Persia and beyond. Striking in its size,
simplicity and boldness, it is named after Homer’s epic tale of the Trojan
War, The Iliad, which is thought to have been written around the same time
this ring was made. Genuine,
Museum Authorized Reproduction
hand-cast by the lost-wax
method
and finished in the US. |
