History:
The Chinese character for longevity (shou) is from a
calligraphy couplet by Yi Bingshou (1754-1815), China, Quing Dynasty, early 19th
century.
The text of
the entire scroll reads:
May you enjoy the longevity of
metal and stone. May all your friends be phoenixes and unicorns
The reverse of
the pendant is engraved with a phoenix and a unicorn.
