History: AUGUSTE RENOIR 1841-1919 – Auguste Renoir was
perhaps the best loved of the Impressionists. He first painted at the famous
porcelain factory in Limoges where he was born. There, he acquired the fresh
palette that would distinguish his work in later years. Though renowned for his
color more than his use of line, Renoir was an accomplished draughtsman, as in
this adaptation from a drawing of a Renoir’s mother and child.
