Purity: (n.) "Something that does not contain foreign
material or pollutants. Something that is morally good, or is not mixed."
Purity, for most people, is the absence of all "other" things. But
for every Yin, there is a Yang and so for Christians, what makes something truly
pure, is not only the "absence of all foreign materials or pollutants", but also
the complete PRESENCE of Christ. In the traditional sense, purity rings
symbolize a commitment to abstain from sex until marriage, or as a reminder to
avoid "social pollutants" like drugs or alcohol. For some married couples,
purity also means having sex only for the purpose of bearing children. But
through it all, the idea is, that where there is Christ, there is purity.
