History:
Starry Starry Night, one of Van Gogh's
most memorable paintings is faithfully rendered here in a beautiful pendant.
Vincent Van Gogh, 1853-1890 did not paint until the last ten years of his life,
though he perhaps left us with some of the best known images of the nineteenth
century. Without conventional training, his earlier work seemed primitive.
Through his art dealer/ brother Theo, he met Degas and Seurat, and color became
his abiding fascination.
His last two years in Arles, in
the south of France, produced the blazing images for which he is is now famous.
His dynamic brushwork was evident in all his compositions, significantly in his
rendering of sunflowers. Van Gogh's signature is on the back side.
