This beautiful work of art is ornamented on the outside with sixteen round
cornered stars in relief, an antique finish for the background and is engraved on the inside with the phrase,
“Many are thee starrs I see, yet in my eye no starr like thee" in period English. Spelling varied during the 16th century and earlier.
Today the phrases would read: Many are the stars I see yet in my eye no star like thee.
