History: This pendant was inspired by a gold Sabbath ring, dated 1806/7 from Cracow, Poland currently in the collection of the Jewish Museum, New York. The Jewish Museum is under the auspices of the Jewish Museum Theological Seminary of America. The Sabbath ring features a carnelian incised with a candelabrum and a portion of the blessing over the Sabbath lights in Hebrew which reads:

“…to light the candle(s) of the Sabbath.”

In some communities, it was traditional for the bridegroom to give his bride such an inscribed ring on the first Sabbath after their wedding.
